The Chief of the Romanian General Staff, Admiral Ph. D. Gheorghe Marin conducts an official visit to United States of America during 3rd through 8th of August , 2009 as a follow-up to the invitation extended by his counterpart, ADMl Michael Mullen, the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

The scheduled programme of this visit includes official talks between the two military leaders and on this occasion the bilateral and NATO military cooperation will be addressed. Moreover, Admiral Ghe.Marin will meet General David Petraeus, USCENTCOM commander, and visit quite a number of American military installations. He will also take part in a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC.On Friday, 8th of August, the Chief of Romanian General Staff is scheduled to pay a visit to „Walter Reed”, US Army Medical Center where he is going to see Lt.- Colonel Nicuşor-Augustin Pegulescu, at Rehabilitation Center for Wounded Soldiers. Lieutenant-colonel Augustin Pegulescu was wounded during his mission in Afghanistan.
